AMERICA AND AUSTRALIA ....DREAMING...
Now that we know about the American dream, lets look at the Australian dream and compare how America has influenced Australia as a soft power.
Australian Dream: Derived from the American dream, and greatly expanded in the 1970s. The Australian dream focuses on the ownership of a single storey detached house, surrounded by a garden, which featured in the back, a hills hoist and a barbecue. The dream was accompanied the by the annual summer holiday by the ocean, living within a nuclear family where the male was the breadwinner in the family, and completed weekly mowing with the Victa lawnmower. Task 2: In groups of three, you are to research and compare how the American dream has somewhat influenced the
Australian dream. You will be given a topic and are to make a ‘Graffiti Wall,’ using 'Glogster' with supporting images and text to illustrate the comparisons. Once completed you will present your findings to the class.
